Rather than simply accepting bookings six months in advance, Yosemite offers campground stays in blocks of one month at a time, up to five months in advance. Reservations go on sale on the 15th of each month, at 7a. m. Pacific Time.
Can you pass through Yosemite without a reservation?
Do I need a reservation to visit Yosemite? No, you do not currently need a reservation. Reservations were required to drive into and through Yosemite at certain times in 2020, 2021, 2022, and February 2023.
Can I give my Yosemite reservation to someone else?
“Call 877/444-6777 to change or cancel your reservation.” If they are all in the same car, one permit will do. Two cars per campsite maximum. You can’t change the name on the camping permit for YOS.
Can I camp in Yosemite without a permit?
A wilderness permit is required year-round for backpacking, overnight climbing, or any other overnight stay in the Yosemite Wilderness. A wilderness permit is not required for day hikes (unless hiking to Half Dome) or for staying in lodging facilities and frontcountry campgrounds.
Can you enter Yosemite at 4am?
Yosemite National Park is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. However, the Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station is open only during daylight hours (approximately) and some roads are closed due to snow from around November through May or June.
